Gerard has a Bachelor of Architecture from The University of Melbourne, is a Registered Architect with the Architects Registration Board of Victoria and a member of the Australian Institute of Architects.
After working in England on community housing projects, he became a Director of Smith+Tracey Architects in 1982 and is currently Chairman. He is extensively involved in Educational and Community Projects through both the architectural practice and as a member of the community.
Gerard's primary roles are to ensure the delivery of quality projects for clients and to mentor both new directors and staff at Smith+Tracey.
Gerard was a Charter member of the Rotary Club of Keilor East in 1983, President in 1994-1995 and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a District Governor's Representative in 1995-1996. He is now an Honorary Member of the Rotary Club.
